UK Braces for Rising Temperatures Amid Potential Heatwave
Met Office forecasts heat surge above 29 °C with heatwave criteria approaching
Temperatures across the UK have surpassed 29 °C as warm high pressure moves in ahead of a likely heatwave this weekend.
With the Met Office requiring three consecutive days above regional thresholds—25 °C in the north and west, 28 °C in the southeast—for a formal declaration, many areas including London, the Midlands and parts of Wales are expected to meet criteria by Saturday.
While day‑time highs may peak in the low 30s, authorities are already issuing heat‑health alerts and warning of wildfire risks, urging the public to take precautions.
The heat is forecast to ease early next week as the high‑pressure system shifts east.
