UK Borrowing Rises to £18.3 Billion in August Ahead of October Budget

UK public-sector borrowing reached £18.3 billion in August, £3.5 billion above the official forecast, taking borrowing in the financial year to date to £77.3 billion and increasing pressure on Chancellor John Healey ahead of the October 28 Budget.
