Of the passengers, 19 were from the UK, two from Belgium, one from Switzerland, and one from Germany.

David Taylor, from Nottinghamshire, was trapped below deck and feared for his and his son's lives.

He and another passenger, Fernando Suarez Mella, attempted to open an escape hatch but failed.

Christian Taylor was eventually able to escape by climbing up his father and then his father and Suarez Mella climbed up each other.

Fernando Suarez Mella was unable to climb up and waited until the water level inside the boat was higher, allowing him to float up and escape.

The owners of the Carlton Queen, Carlton Fleet, have not responded to the BBC.

Passengers plan to sue the owners to hold them accountable for the incident.

A GoFundMe page has been set up by a German passenger to fund legal action against the owner of a diving boat that sank in the Red Sea, killing four people.

The captain and all 26 passengers were rescued, but the passenger wants to ensure that similar incidents are prevented in the future.

Another survivor believes that wider problems with diving boats in Egypt, such as refurbished boats leading to safety issues, need to be addressed.
