Large-scale protests have taken place in British cities against Israel's actions in Gaza, sparking debate. Some conservative figures, like ex-Home Secretary Suella Braverman, have denounced these events as "hate marches."

Dame Sara Khan, reviewing British social unity and democratic resilience, urges politicians to avoid inflammatory language and insists that not all participants are extremists, with the crowds being diverse and including those who are simply anti-war.

Prime Minister Rishi Sunak described protests as occasions for threats and violence, while government counter-extremism commissioner Robin Simcox suggested that accommodating protests could create areas inaccessible to Jews. Contrarily, terrorism law reviewer Jonathan Hall KC emphasized the importance of protecting the right to protest.

Amidst these conflicting views, the government plans to introduce a new definition of extremism, affecting its collaborative partnerships.
