The UAE will deduct fines for not subscribing to the mandatory Unemployment Insurance Scheme directly from the salaries or end-of-term gratuity of violators.

Over 6.6 million people are currently subscribed to the UAE Unemployment Insurance Scheme as of November 15. Those who are not yet subscribed face fines of AED 400 (approximately $109).

The scheme provides social protection for all workers, including citizens and residents, offering compensation for up to three months in the event of unemployment.

Fines for non-subscribers were postponed from July 1 to October 1, 2023, to give more time for compliance. Administrative measures, including withholding work permits and salary deductions, will be taken against those who fail to pay fines.
