This period, crucial for online retail, is also becoming a hotbed for malicious bot activities and cyberattacks, with the financial sector facing the most DDoS attacks, followed closely by e-commerce.

The report highlights a worrying trend: a 45% surge in bot activity on e-commerce websites during sales periods, with the UAE experiencing a more pronounced increase. These bots, capable of simulating human activity, pose risks like hacking user accounts, compromising customer identities, and leaking sensitive information. Businesses are also at risk, as these attacks can distort key metrics and undermine marketing efforts.

Victor Zyamzin from Qrator Labs emphasizes the importance of proactive security measures. For businesses, this includes behavioral analysis, security services, and predictive algorithms to combat bot threats. Meanwhile, users are advised to employ robust security practices such as unique passwords for each site, regular password changes, and two-factor authentication.

The report also finds that 95% of bot traffic targets retail sites through unified client accounts, with a focus on accounts linked to bonus programs. The pharmaceutical sector, usually less affected, has also seen a significant rise in bot attacks.
