The delegation will comprise Secretary of State Marco Rubio, National Security Advisor Mike Waltz, and Middle East negotiator Steve Witkoff.
This diplomatic initiative follows Trump's recent announcement of a conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin, marking the first dialogue between the two since Trump's return to office.
During their discussion, the leaders reportedly agreed to start talks aimed at establishing a potential ceasefire in Ukraine.
While officials have not provided specific details about the timing of the meetings or the delegates' travel itinerary, Rubio was already scheduled to visit Saudi Arabia as part of his first Middle Eastern tour, which began earlier on Saturday with his arrival in Israel, according to an AFP journalist's report.
Earlier on Saturday, Rubio spoke on the phone with his Russian counterpart, Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, where he reiterated President Trump's dedication to resolving the conflict in Ukraine, as indicated by the U.S. State Department.
Steve Witkoff, who recently worked on a prisoner exchange that facilitated the Trump-Putin call, has played a key role in efforts to address U.S. detainees, including a trip to Moscow aimed at securing the release of detained American Marc Fogel.
In a social media post earlier this week, Trump announced that he tasked Rubio, Waltz, Witkoff, and CIA Director John Ratcliffe with accelerating negotiations for a resolution to the war in Ukraine.
Meanwhile, reactions from Kyiv and its European allies reflect concerns regarding Trump's sudden initiative, as there are anxieties about being excluded from discussions that could influence Ukraine's future following a significant military escalation in the region, recognized as the largest ground conflict in Europe since World War II.
