Two Teenagers Drown in Suspected Riptide off Bournemouth Beach, Police Investigate

An inquest revealed they both died of drowning.

As a result, all boat operations from Bournemouth Pier have been suspended "as a precaution" until the outcome of a police investigation.

The investigation is looking into whether the wash from a pleasure cruiser, The Dorset Belle, may have contributed to the incident, and a man in his forties has been arrested on suspicion of manslaughter.

The beach was extremely busy at the time of the incident, but no one pulled from the sea was involved in any collision or contact with any vessel in the water.

The investigation is ongoing.
