Trump Announces Plans for U.S. Iron Dome Missile Defense System

President Trump reveals intentions to build a U.S. version of Israel's Iron Dome air defense system.

President Donald Trump announced on January 29, 2025, that he would sign an executive order to initiate the development of a state-of-the-art missile defense system for the United States, modeled after Israel's Iron Dome.

Trump made the statement during a Republican congressional retreat in Miami, coinciding with the confirmation of Pete Hegseth as the new U.S. Defense Secretary.

The Iron Dome, used by Israel to intercept thousands of rockets, is considered one of the most advanced missile defense systems in the world.

Trump’s proposed system aims to strengthen U.S. national security and protect against missile threats.
