They are advancing partnerships in green energy, digital transformation, and research, highlighted by Canada's entry into the Horizon Europe program, a major scientific research initiative with a budget of $100 billion.

Trudeau confirmed that Canada is now a full partner, poised to reap greater benefits from Horizon Europe, enhancing long-standing scientific collaborations.

Negotiations for Canada's inclusion started a year ago, aiming for a spring agreement. Additionally, Canada has agreed to supply the EU with water bombers for forest fire management.

The two sides have also unveiled the Green Alliance, focusing on climate action, biodiversity protection, and boosted technological and scientific cooperation. A separate digital partnership was established.

European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen described Canada as an ideal partner for Europe's resource needs and invited it to join a forthcoming global partnership. Trudeau affirmed Canada's support for Ukraine, pledging more arms and ammunition against the Russian invasion.
