Liverpool footballer Trent Alexander-Arnold narrowly escaped a potentially fatal incident as he drove down a country road during Storm Babet. A 40ft electricity pylon was uprooted by the storm, smashing into a BMW X5, the car in front of Alexander-Arnold's £90,000 Range Rover.
Despite having to slam on his brakes and colliding with the BMW, both Alexander-Arnold and the driver of the other car escaped unharmed. The storm has already caused three deaths, and the incident occurred on a wet country lane near Knutsford, Cheshire. Cheshire Police reported that no injuries occurred, and the energy company turned off the electricity.
