The TV company, Atlantic Productions, deemed the Titan submersible "not fit for purpose" after carrying out checks.
The Titan sub later imploded during a trip to the wreck, killing all five passengers, including the CEO of OceanGate, Stockton Rush, British billionaire explorer Hamish Harding, French diver Paul-Henry Nargeolet, and father and son, Shahzada Dawood and Suleman Dawood.
Leading deep-sea exploration specialist Rob McCallum had previously warned Mr. Rush about the safety concerns regarding the Titan, but the production company went ahead with the dive.
