Conservative Member of Parliament Crispin Blunt has made a statement revealing that he has been arrested on suspicion of rape. He posted this information on social media, stating that he had been interviewed twice regarding the incident, once three weeks prior when he reported concerns over extortion, and a second time following his arrest.
Mr. Blunt expressed his willingness to cooperate fully with the investigation and mentioned that he expects the matter to conclude without charges.
In response to the arrest, the Tory party suspended Mr. Blunt's whip and requested that he stay away from Parliament. Surrey Police confirmed that the arrest took place in Horley. The Tory party declined to comment on the situation.
This incident follows a series of arrests of sitting MPs on allegations of sexual offenses in recent years, highlighting concerns about the conduct of some lawmakers.
