Following her experience, she reported the theft to the police. British Transport Police data reveals a significant climb in thefts on the Underground, with 7,899 incidents in 2022, more than double the previous year's figure. The Central line faced the most pickpocketing incidents, while the Northern line was also heavily affected. Although the Metropolitan line, where Hall was pickpocketed, reported fewer incidents, the number had risen by over 100% from the previous year. British Transport Police have been asked to comment on the theft escalation.
