TikTok Star Mizzy (Bacari-Bronze O'Garro) Found Guilty of Stealing Woman's iPhone in London
TikTok prankster Bacari-Bronze O'Gar, also known as Mizzy, was found guilty of stealing a woman's iPhone 13 Pro Max as he rode past her on an e-bike in central London on June 15, 2022.
He tried to escape from the police and discarded the phone in a bush.
The incident occurred around 1:00 p.m. in Highbury New Park, Islington.
Mizzy was bailed to appear for sentencing at Highbury Corner Magistrates' Court on June 13.
A woman was distracted by texting on her £1,000 device when a thief snatched it.
She described the thief as black and remembered what he was wearing.
The incident lasted only 10 seconds, leaving her feeling stressed, anxious, and scared.
Later, a 17-year-old named O'Garro was approached by police for unrelated reasons.
When they tried to detain him, he fled on a bike, throwing the stolen phone into bushes.
He was eventually caught by three other officers in an unmarked police car.
A social media star named O'Garro, now 19, was summarily tried in court for possessing a phone that contained stolen images.
Police officer PC David Clifford testified that O'Garro displayed "erratic behavior," including being found hiding behind a tree during his arrest.
In the courtroom, O'Garro explained that he had received the phone from a friend while cycling and threw it away upon encountering the police due to feeling scared and uncomfortable with their presence, citing negative stereotypes in the area.
