Albanians in the UK Breaching Immigration Bail at Alarming Rate

Albanians released from immigration detention centers in the UK are violating the terms of their immigration bail at a high rate, with nearly 13,000 breaching the terms in the 15 months to March 2021.

Many are being monitored by electronic tags, but videos on TikTok show Albanians using scissors or wire cutters to remove the tags.

Immigration lawyers say that Albanians are breaching their bail because they are afraid of being deported following an agreement between Tirana and London that fast-tracks their removal.

The Home Office is taking further steps to enforce bail conditions, including arrests and obtaining financial guarantees.
