With an impressive kitchen and a shaded patio, this desert dwelling is sure to be scooped up.

If you’re looking for a turnkey desert retreat, this three-bedroom dwelling in Landers, California, may be the one. Situated on five acres in the Mojave Desert about 10 minutes from Joshua Tree, the property was originally built in 1987 and recently underwent a head-to-toe renovation.

Interior designer and former HGTV host Karen McAloon spearheaded the remodel, transforming the dated 1980s residence into a spacious and light-filled desert oasis.

The 1,712-square-foot home now offers a bright, open layout, featuring tall ceilings with exposed trusses and polished concrete floors. Wood-trimmed windows and doors wrap the main gathering areas, ushering ample natural light inside.

Glass doors span the front and back facades of the home, creating an easy indoor/outdoor flow. A 26-foot, hand-plastered bench connects the living and dining areas.

"With original design elements that reflect the natural surroundings, this property is an ideal setting for entertaining or romantic nights in," says listing agent Jasmine Farrow. "Its expansive lot frames riveting views, in addition to the starry night sky which can be enjoyed once the sun sets."

The vaulted ceiling capping the primary living areas enhances the overall sense of space.

The kitchen-anchored by a 45-square-foot quartz-topped island-features custom white-oak cabinets handmade by local artisans Fire On The Mesa. A large, anchoring island offers plenty of space for meal prep, as well as casual bar seating.

The 96-square-foot primary suite opens to a private Saltillo tiled patio.

The three bedrooms are located in a private wing away from the living areas, each offering outdoor access. Along with its own patio, the primary suite also has a dual walk-in shower and oversized soaking tub.

Another view of the primary bedroom showcases the fenced-in patio. Through the sliding barn doors, you’ll find a soaking tub located in the en suite bath.

Outside, an expansive, shipping-container pool awaits, with a landscaped fire pit area located steps away. A detached garage is also on the property, which can be easily converted into a gym, creative studio, or guest house. Scroll ahead to see more of the residence, now listed for $798,000.

A dual walk-in shower sits across from the oversized tub.

Both guest rooms feature large closets with custom doors.

The guest bath boasts custom stonework and a walk-through shower that leads to the pool.

Set right off the main living spaces, the partially covered back patio caters to easy entertaining.

In the backyard, the shipping container Modpool is controlled by a smart-tech system which allows it to double as a jacuzzi.
