Air New Zealand Begins Weighing Passengers for International Flights

Air New Zealand will begin weighing passengers departing on international flights from the Auckland International Airport starting on July 2.

30 May 2023 · 21:24 UTC

The airline will use the passenger weight survey, which is a voluntary program, to determine the average customer weight for planes.

Passengers will be asked to step on a set of scales at the gate lounges for the airline to log their weight before boarding.

Air New Zealand previously conducted the same survey domestically in 2021 and is now required by the New Zealand's Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) to conduct the survey every five years.
