According to LinkedIn's latest findings, the European job market is quickly evolving, with roles in artificial intelligence (AI), sustainability, and cybersecurity rapidly expanding.

LinkedIn's analysis, which reviewed job starts from January 2019 to July 2023, highlights that job competition has intensified with twice as many Europeans vying for positions this year compared to the last.

The survey also indicates that about 67% of professionals might seek new jobs within the year, motivated by desires for higher pay amid living cost increases and better career prospects.

Key Growth Sectors: AI and Green Jobs

The growing demand for tech and eco-friendly expertise is driving the rise of jobs such as Sustainability Managers, AI Engineers, and Cybersecurity Analysts. Particularly, the UK's top roles include sustainability managers and roles associated with sales and risk assessment.

Skills Matching Challenges

While job opportunities grow, LinkedIn emphasizes the increasing difficulty professionals face in aligning their skills with new positions due to the rapid job market shifts.

Further complicating matters, over half of European hiring managers feel their companies miss out on skilled applicants who lack traditional qualifications. Moving forward, LinkedIn's Europe and Latin America Managing Director, Josh Graff, stresses the importance of adaptability, urging businesses to prioritize upskilling and reskilling to keep up with market dynamics.
