The Government of the United Kingdom has excluded Spain from the list of safe countries exempt from quarantine, which means that travelers arriving from there will have to isolate themselves fourteen days on British territory, the Transport Ministry confirmed this Saturday.

A spokesman for the ministry said that the measure will come into effect at midnight and will apply to the entire Spanish state, including the Balearic and Canary Islands.

The decision of the London Executive comes after several Spanish autonomous communities have reported new outbreaks of COVID-19 and an increase in contagions today, while the data from the tracking system reveals the poor ability to identify and monitor the contacts of each newly diagnosed cases.
