The Christmas card and calendar, featuring photos of the pub, have been designed to be crooked, mirroring the pub's distinctive tilt caused by subsidence from 19th-century mining activities.
Organized by the campaign group Save the Crooked House (Let's Get It Rebuilt), these items are being sold both online and at a pop-up shop outside the Dudley Arms in Himley, Staffordshire. The calendar features months spelled phonetically to reflect the local dialect, and the card bears the message: "Happy crooked Christmas."
The creation of these items, particularly the cards, required special effort due to their crooked design. Printer Stuart Blaze described the process as laborious but enjoyable, involving a custom jig and the ability to cut only six cards at a time.
Ian Sandell from the campaign group expressed hope that the sale of these items would raise the profile of their proposal to rebuild the pub, maintaining its unique slant.
Paul Turner highlighted the significant public reaction to the loss of the iconic pub and their aim to maintain momentum for its reconstruction. The news also mentions that five people have been arrested in connection with the fire that destroyed the pub in August.
