Mayo had concealed her pregnancy from her family and gave birth to Stanley in March 2019.
Medical experts believe that Stanley was alive for a couple of hours before he was murdered.
Mayo stuffed cotton wool into his mouth and throat to suffocate him.
She claimed she had used the cotton wool to clean up blood and that his fractured skull was caused by him falling on the floor during birth, but the prosecution said that was not an adequate explanation.
The jury took eight hours and 38 minutes to convict Mayo of murder.
Mayo had a difficult family life and her father's terminal illness made her feel "worthless." She started having sex at 13 and used it as a way to get people to like her because she was "insecure" due to her family situation.
Mayo's sentencing is set for Monday.
