The event occurred on the evening of December 14, 2024, when shots were fired in Gifford Road at approximately 9:15 PM, fatally injuring 44-year-old Michelle Sadio, according to the Metropolitan Police.
Ms. Sadio was among mourners attending a wake when the drive-by shooting took place.
The aftermath left two other men, both in their 30s, injured.
One man sustained critical injuries and remains hospitalized in a stable condition, while the second man has received treatment and has been discharged.
The shots were reportedly fired from a moving black Kia Niro, identifiable by its "distinctive" alloys and the registration number LA23 XRE.
The vehicle was later discovered abandoned and deliberately set on fire on Barnhill Road, sparking further investigation by forensic teams.
The 18-year-old suspect was apprehended on Wednesday and is currently held in custody as investigations proceed.
