Taxi drivers protest pothole 'nightmare' in Glasgow

Taxi drivers in Glasgow have demonstrated outside the city's chambers, protesting against poor road conditions they claim are damaging their vehicles.

They honked their horns during a slow Saturday drive-by. Activists also called for a "pothole emergency" at George Square. The council, having doubled its repair budget after a harsh winter last year, expects to complete 175 road projects by March and has not seen a significant rise in pothole complaints this year.

Driver Eddie Grice, representing the Scottish Private Hire Association, has incurred significant damage to his car from potholes, including replacing five tires since December.

Despite a council tax freeze, Glasgow plans to spend £6m on road and path improvements, a reduction from the previous year's £12m.

The council insists on prioritizing safety and efficient pothole repairs, employing four crews daily and encourages public reporting of road issues via the MyGlasgow app or social media.
