About 400 people participated in the march along Aberavon seafront. The firm was expected to make a statement on the plant's future earlier this month, but the announcement was postponed.

Paul Taylor, a long-time Tata employee, expressed concerns about the dire impact on mental health and the local community if jobs were lost or the plant closed. The protesters also observed a two-minute silence for Armistice Day during their demonstration.

Krystle Lloyd, supporting her steelworker husband, highlighted the broader community impact, noting how job cuts would affect not only steelworkers but also self-employed individuals like gas engineers.

Alun Davies from the Community Union mentioned an upcoming meeting between the unions and Tata, where Tata's plans are expected to be presented. He believes Tata delayed its announcement to consider a report by Syndex, a business specialist examining the firm's plans.

Davies emphasized the devastating effect Tata's plans could have on the local community and businesses, advocating for the preservation of the community and the steelmaking tradition in the area, which spans over 120 years.

Tata Steel has stated that they are not yet ready to formally announce any proposals for transitioning to a decarbonized future for Tata Steel UK.
