Rupert Murdoch's Talk TV network is set to discontinue its conventional broadcasting services this summer and transition to an online-only presence.

The change follows the decision to move Piers Morgan's show to an exclusively online format, shedding its previous prime-time TV slot. Scott Taunton, the network's broadcasting head, explained to employees that while years ago a linear channel was essential, the shift towards mobile news consumption demands an online-focused approach.
TalkTV will maintain its content distribution through social media and aims to increase its live streaming audience for televisions. Although Piers Morgan's "Uncensored" boasts 2.4 million YouTube subscribers and the network itself has 812,000, the commitment to evolving with audience habits means leaving traditional TV behind. Taunton emphasized that the channel's future is secure, just not in the traditional TV format.
In tandem with these changes, News UK plans to establish 'News Studios' which will cater to producing easily consumable content for various brands. This new direction calls for organizational restructuring to optimize resources and focus on upcoming productions.
Despite Murdoch's initial intentions for TalkTV to challenge mainstream broadcasters like the BBC by offering opinion-driven content, the financial burden of maintaining a linear channel—coupled with the inadequacy of advertising revenue to cover these costs—necessitated this strategic pivot.
