Sunak denied that his promise to stop small boat crossings is on hold, and said he is "throwing everything at" tackling inflation.

However, he acknowledged that it is proving more persistent than anticipated.

Sunak also said that he is "confidently and vigorously" challenging the appeals court judgment that blocked the forceful removal of asylum seekers to Kigali.

A senior MP asked if his pledge to "stop the boats" is on hold, but Sunak replied "no." He also insisted that his plan to halve inflation is working, despite the latest figures showing it is stuck at 8.7%.

Sunak did not give a specific percentage for his goal, but said he is "throwing everything at it."
