People in parts of Scotland have been urged to avoid travel and stay at home, with Storm Babet expected to bring severe flooding and disruption.

A red weather warning issued by the Met Office for parts of Scotland due to Storm Babet. The warning, which is rare, covers Aberdeenshire and Angus and is for "exceptional" rainfall that poses a risk to life.

The storm is expected to bring severe flooding and disruption, with extensive flooding, road closures, and power cuts anticipated. Wind gusts in excess of 70mph are also expected in coastal areas.

The warnings advise people to avoid travel and stay at home. This comes after heavy rain earlier this month caused flooding in many saturated areas across Scotland.
