He plans to announce his decision on Monday.
Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez announced an investigation into Businessman Iñaki Gómez's affairs on Wednesday, following a complaint from the far-right pressure group Manos Limpias.
Sánchez criticized the complaint as baseless and accused the leaders of the conservative People's Party and far-right Vox Party of collaborating with Manos Limpias and overtly right-wing news sites.
The investigation was initiated after Madrid's court opened a preliminary probe into Gómez's business dealings.
Sánchez's wife, Begoña Gómez, will cooperate with the justice system to clear her name.
The prime minister accused his opponents of engaging in a baseless campaign of harassment and bullying against him and his wife, with the goal of bringing about his personal and political downfall.
Despite this, he expressed doubt about the continued value of his position in light of recent developments.
