Spain has recalled its ambassador to Buenos Aires following derogatory comments made by Argentine President Javier Milei about Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez’s wife, Begona Gomez. Spanish Foreign Minister Jose Manuel Albares demands an apology, accusing Milei of severely damaging Spain-Argentina relations. The investigation into Gomez's business dealings lacks sufficient evidence according to Madrid's prosecuting authority, and Sanchez remains in office.

This rally, organized by the far-right Vox party, was also attended by various international allies.
Spanish Foreign Minister Jose Manuel Albares demands an apology from Milei, accusing him of severely damaging Spain-Argentina relations.
The controversy escalated when Milei, ignoring diplomatic protocols, opted to promote his book with Vox leader Santiago Abascal rather than meet with Spain’s King Felipe and Prime Minister Sanchez.
The comment, which called Gomez 'corrupt,' has sparked widespread condemnation from Spanish officials and the EU’s foreign policy chief, Josep Borrell.
Meanwhile, Spain’s main opposition party, the People's Party (PP), criticized Sanchez for not addressing the corruption allegations earlier, leading to both domestic and international distrust.
Although an April city court investigation was launched into Gomez's business dealings, it lacks sufficient evidence according to Madrid's prosecuting authority.
Sanchez decided to stay in office despite the investigation.
