Two children were killed and nine others injured, including six critically, in a knife attack during a Taylor Swift-themed dance workshop on Hart Street in Southport.
Two adults were also critically injured while attempting to protect the children.
Merseyside Police have arrested a 17-year-old male from Banks, Lancashire, suspected of murder and attempted murder.
The incident, which occurred just after 11:47 BST during the first week of the school summer holidays, is not being treated as terrorism-related.
Tributes poured in from The King and Prime Minister, who expressed their deepest condolences.
The victims were treated at Alder Hey Children's Hospital, Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital, Aintree University Hospital, Southport and Formby District General Hospital, and Ormskirk District General Hospital.
The community and emergency services showed tremendous support and compassion in the aftermath.
