Snoopy and Woodstock Murals Arrive at Golisano Children’s at UK to Uplift Young Patients

Peanuts-themed art initiative brings joyful murals to the newly named pediatric hospital in Lexington
Colorful murals featuring Snoopy and Woodstock have been installed at Golisano Children’s at UK in Lexington, aiming to bring smiles and comfort to young patients.

The gift is part of the global “Take Care With Peanuts” campaign run by Peanuts Worldwide and the Foundation for Hospital Art, which has donated similar artwork to hospitals on six continents.

The collaborative mural-painting project engages patients, staff and volunteers in a paint-by-numbers experience; once completed, the piece is touched up and mounted in the hospital’s designated medical-free zone where children and families can paint, play or simply relax.

The initiative advances the hospital’s broader transformation following a landmark donation to the facility.

In October 2025 the hospital was renamed Golisano Children’s at UK after a fifty-million-dollar gift from philanthropist Tom Golisano, founder of Paychex, and its related syndicates.

That contribution remains the largest in the hospital’s parent organisation’s history and joins the global network of Golisano-branded children’s hospitals.

The mural installation complements the hospital’s renamed identity and its affiliation with the wider alliance.

Hospital leaders say the murals serve more than aesthetic purposes: they are intended to create moments of respite and normalcy for children undergoing treatment and their families.

The choice of beloved, familiar characters aims to reduce stress, spark creativity and reinforce the hospital’s child-centred mission.

The “Take Care With Peanuts” programme has previously furnished seventy hospital sites globally, inviting participants in each location to join the creative process.

Golisano Children’s at UK is now among those locations, bringing a global-community effort into a local setting.

Staff emphasise that the mural will hang in a non-clinical environment within the hospital, reinforcing the separation between care and play zones and enhancing the patient experience.

As the hospital moves forward under its new name and philanthropic backing, the mural project stands as a tangible symbol of the institution’s commitment to holistic care.

Patients, families and staff now have a shared space of creativity and comfort where Snoopy and Woodstock offer a friendly presence on the walls above them, reminding all that healing also thrives in imagination and joy.
