Six Former Yorkshire Cricketers Face Sanctions for Racist and Discriminatory Language

Six former Yorkshire cricketers have been sanctioned for using racist and discriminatory language by the Cricket Discipline Commission (CDC) panel.

The ECB charged the players last year after an investigation into racism allegations made by Azeem Rafiq.

Michael Vaughan was cleared of using racist language but the CDC panel upheld charges against Tim Bresnan, John Blain, Matthew Hoggard, Andrew Gale, Richard Pyrah, and Gary Ballance, who admitted to using racist language in 2021.

Ballance, Bresnan, Gale, and Pyrah received fines and suspensions from coaching and playing cricket, while Blain and Hoggard were only fined.

The players have been recommended to undertake a racism or discrimination education course.
