Six children have been hospitalized after a car crash in Oxford. Thames Valley Police attempted to stop a BMW driving erratically at high speed on the city's eastern bypass. The BMW failed to stop and collided with a black VW Touran five minutes later.
Four children sustained serious injuries, two had minor injuries, and the Touran's driver had minor injuries. Five young men from the city were arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving.
They were also arrested for various other offenses related to the incident. The police have referred themselves to the Independent Office for Police Conduct in accordance with procedure.
