Sir Keir Starmer, the leader of the UK Labour Party, has been accused by a Cardiff mosque of "gravely" misrepresenting the nature of his visit. The South Wales Islamic Centre expressed dismay over a social media post about the visit, in which Starmer had said he was "grateful to hear from the Muslim community" and reiterated calls for humanitarian aid to enter Gaza and for a renewed focus on the two-state solution.

The mosque apologized for the "hurt and confusion" caused and said that Starmer had misrepresented their congregants and the nature of the visit. Starmer had faced criticism over his stance on Gaza, particularly comments he made about Israel's actions in the region.
