A 17-year-old boy has been charged with a public order offense in connection with chants about the death of Sir Bobby Charlton at a Manchester City match. The chants were recorded during the match on the day the Manchester United legend's death was announced.
The 17-year-old has been released on bail with conditions, including not attending any regulated football matches, and is set to appear before Manchester magistrates in November.
A 14-year-old boy was also interviewed in connection with the chanting and will be dealt with out of court. Manchester City's manager, Pep Guardiola, had condemned the "vile chanting" after Sir Bobby Charlton's death.
