The 400-year-old stone structure of the harbour was breached, leaving a five-meter-wide gap in the wall. Additionally, the walkway partially collapsed during high tide.

Thankfully, there were no injuries, as boats were moved to safety. The North Berwick Harbour Trust charity, responsible for the harbour's maintenance, is seeking emergency funding for repairs. The damaged area is of historical significance, dating back 400 years.

Montrose also experienced damage to its promenade from storm surges, with "significant parts" collapsing. Angus Council has closed affected areas for safety reasons.

The St Andrews Aquarium was another casualty, as sea swells damaged the seal pool's fencing and viewing deck. The aquarium will be closed for repairs, but all animals are safe and will be re-homed during the restoration process.
