After a man in his 20s was arrested and released on bail, a man in his 40s is now in police custody for the same crimes.

The removal of the artwork, which Banksy confirmed through an Instagram post, was recorded by onlookers. The prompt response followed a report of theft by Southwark Council to the Metropolitan Police.

They are calling for any information on the incident or the sign's location. In one social media video, a suspect uses bolt cutters and a rental bike to detach the sign.

Following the theft, officials replaced the traffic sign to ensure safety. Banksy's fans believe his piece comments on the Gaza conflict, similar to his 2017 work at the Walled Off hotel in Bethlehem, highlighting the view of Israel's contested West Bank barrier.
