The Scottish government has announced that it will provide more than 14,000 WhatsApp messages to the UK Covid Inquiry. Deputy First Minister Shona Robison confirmed that First Minister Humza Yousaf would also share his messages.

This comes after the government faced criticism for not handing over all relevant data to the inquiry and accusations that senior figures had deleted messages.

While former First Minister Nicola Sturgeon refused to confirm whether she had deleted messages, she stated that she had "nothing to hide" and would provide a full account of her actions during the pandemic.

The release of the WhatsApp messages is seen as a significant development in the inquiry, which seeks to investigate the government's response to the Covid-19 pandemic in Scotland.
