The discussions focused on enhancing cooperation in the industry and mining sectors. Participants included ministers from Zambia, South Africa, Senegal, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, and Mauritania.
These meetings were part of Saudi Arabia's broader strategy to strengthen industrial, mining, and trade partnerships with African nations. The goal is to bolster economic cooperation, invest in business development, infrastructure, and human capital, and support sustainable development in Africa.
At the Saudi-African Economic Forum, the Saudi Ministry of Industry and Mineral Resources signed four Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) with Chad, Senegal, Zimbabwe, and Mauritania. These agreements aim to foster collaboration in the mining sector, focusing on mineral resources development, knowledge and technology exchange, and enhancement of local capabilities in mining.
The MoUs cover areas such as human resources development, exploration, and mining in the mineral resources sector, as well as the development of mining-related legislation and regulations. They seek to encourage partnerships between public, semi-public, and private entities in the minerals sector, reflecting Saudi Arabia's commitment to expanding economic ties with African countries.
