Alex Salmond, leader of the Alba Party in Scotland, has stated that a renewed push for Scottish independence is a condition for his party's support of Humza Yousaf in a potential no confidence vote.

Salmond also called for a focus on "people's priorities" such as health, housing, transport, education, jobs, and industry, rather than "identity politics." Yousaf has already rejected the idea of an electoral pact between his SNP party and Alba to maximize pro-independence parliamentarians, an idea previously proposed by Salmond.
Alex Salmond, former leader of the Scottish National Party (SNP), formed a new pro-independence party called Alba after a dispute with Nicola Sturgeon.
Alba is proposing a plan for a referendum on Scottish Parliament's power to hold another independence vote and a convention for all pro-independence groups to agree on a strategy.
Ash Regan, an Alba member, has a bill in the Scottish parliament to extend its powers to include legislation for negotiating independence.
The Scottish Parliament is expected to discuss the competence of holding confidence votes against Humza Yousaf, the new SNP leader, following the abrupt end of the power-sharing agreement with the Scottish Greens.
The idea of an independence convention has also been suggested to reignite the independence movement and prioritize it in Scotland.
Humza Yousaf is facing two confidence votes, which could take place as early as next week.
