On Monday, Mr Khan urged those who were eligible who hadn’t already done so to come forward.

“It’s not too late to change your mind, and you will not be judged,” he said.

“There are hundreds of places across the city where you can get your first dose at a time that suits you. Get protected. Get vaccinated.”

As of Sunday, around 3,744 patients were in London hospitals with Covid.

According to an analysis by the UK Health Security Agency published on New Year’s Eve, those who are unvaccinated are up to eight times more likely to be hospitalised with Covid than the vaccinated.

Dr Susan Hopkins, the Chief Medical Adviser at the agency, said: “The data once again shows that coming forward for your jab, particularly your third dose, is the best way of protecting yourself and others against infection and severe disease.”

Vaccine appointments can be booked by using the NHS’s online booking service or there are walk-in clinics available across the capital.

Everyone aged 12 and over can get a 1st and 2nd dose of the vaccine.

A booster dose of the vaccine is available for everyone aged 18 and over, and some people aged 16 and over, who have had two doses of the vaccine at least three months ago.
