Sadiq Khan Poised for Comfortable Victory Over Tory Rival Susan Hall in Mayoral Election, Latest Poll Indicates

Lord Ashcroft’s poll, involving over 3,400 Londoners, also showed that Liberal Democrat Rob Blackie holds 10%, Green Party's Zoe Garbett 7%, and Reform UK’s Howard Cox 5%. The majority of previous Labour voters remain loyal to Khan, while a small fraction of 2019 Tory voters are shifting toward Labour, despite Hall's low recognition among Londoners.

Blame for the capital's issues is largely directed at the Conservative government, particularly among Khan's supporters. In contrast, over half of Hall's prospective voters hold the Mayor accountable.

Key concerns for Londoners include living costs, housing affordability, crime, and traffic congestion, with many expressing that the quality of life in London has declined. In particular, residents of outer boroughs feel central London's problems encroaching on their areas.

Khan receives positive marks for international investment, arts funding, and government opposition, but scores poorly on addressing crime, a top priority for voters.

Lord Ashcroft’s commentary highlights that despite local concerns, many Londoners prefer the city over other places but feel let down by the national government, which could make it challenging for another Conservative mayoral candidate to gain traction.

The Lord Ashcroft Polls were conducted between October 23 and November 8, 2023, sampling 3,418 adults in London and 2,518 across Britain, with adjustments for representativeness and 2019 election weighting.
