Sadiq Khan and Labour MPs are increasing pressure on Sir Keir Starmer to call for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza. While the official Labour stance is to advocate for a "pause" in the conflict to allow aid and hostages to move in and out of Gaza, Khan and some MPs, including Dawn Butler and Marsha de Cordova, are demanding a full ceasefire.
Nine Arab countries, including US allies, have also called for an immediate ceasefire. Critics within the Labour Party have expressed dissatisfaction with Starmer's stance on the issue.
Around a third of Labour MPs have called for a ceasefire, and several councillors have resigned from the party in protest. This situation has created divisions within the party.
