Russia and Ukraine have engaged in a heavy exchange of drone attacks, following Hungary's veto of a 50 billion euro European Union aid package for Ukraine.

Ukraine's air defense successfully downed 30 drones targeting 11 regions, while Russia claims to have neutralized 38 Ukrainian drones over Crimea and the Kursk region.

In the Russia-controlled Kherson region, authorities report intercepting aerial targets, but a Ukrainian missile strike resulted in two fatalities. Conversely, Ukrainian territory in Kherson also suffered casualties due to shelling.

Amidst these escalating attacks as the war nears its two-year anniversary, both nations appear locked in a stalemate with limited territorial changes since Ukraine's counteroffensive in June.

EU members are divided over the delayed financial support for Ukraine, with Hungary's Prime Minister Viktor Orbán holding out. Still, Ukraine has been encouraged to celebrate its prospects of EU membership, even though the process is expected to be lengthy and challenging.

In a positive development, Russia returned three Ukrainian children to their families through Qatar's mediation, as part of ongoing efforts to repatriate over 19,000 children believed to be displaced by the conflict.
