Sean "Diddy" Combs has issued an apology after CCTV footage from 2016 showed him assaulting his ex-girlfriend Cassandra "Cassie" Ventura in a hotel hallway.

In a video posted to Instagram, Diddy expressed remorse for his actions, which had been aired by CNN.

Cassie's lawyers criticized his apology as self-serving.

The footage, reportedly taken at the InterContinental Hotel in Century City, Los Angeles, displays Diddy pushing and kicking Cassie.

The Los Angeles District Attorney's Office indicated the incident might be too old to prosecute.

Last November, Cassie settled a lawsuit against Diddy, where she accused him of rape and sexual trafficking, for an undisclosed amount.

Diddy's lawyer claimed the settlement was not an admission of guilt.

The rapper's homes in Los Angeles and Miami have also been raided as part of a federal investigation into human trafficking.
