RMT Union Announces Strike Action on London Underground Over Pay and Jobs Dispute

The RMT union has announced several days of strike action on the London Underground from July 23-28 due to a continuing row over pay and jobs, with the union claiming that the action will "shut down" the affected parts of the network each day.

The union is in a long-running dispute with Transport for London (TfL) over jobs, cuts, and "attacks on pensions and working conditions," with plans by TfL to cut 600 jobs and attack the union's members' pensions deemed "unacceptable" by the union.

The RMT has called further strike days for July 20, 22, and 29, reflecting a backlash against efforts to cut budgets as the rail network reels from the impact of lost revenue during the COVID pandemic.
