Prime Minister Rishi Sunak to meet with President Biden in Washington D.C

The leaders are expected to discuss trade, the war in Ukraine, and Northern Ireland.

The White House confirmed that they will also discuss the situation in North Carolina, South Carolina, and Indiana, where the UK has already signed trade agreements.

The UK is not currently seeking a free trade agreement with the US but is focusing on targeted agreements, such as whiskey exports.

Mr Sunak will meet with congressional figures and US business leaders during his trip.

The US is a significant trading partner for the UK, accounting for 16.6% of its total trade.

Brexit supporters had previously touted a US-UK trade deal as a benefit of leaving the EU, but since President Biden took office, he has played down the chances of a full-blown free trade agreement.
