UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak has submitted plans to build a 165ft (50m)-long fence around his North Yorkshire home. The proposed "timber post and rail fence" is intended to serve as a visual and physical barrier to discourage incursion.
This decision comes after a rooftop protest by Greenpeace in August, where campaigners draped the property with black fabric to oppose government plans for more than 100 new licenses for oil and gas extraction in the North Sea. Mr. Sunak has stated that he will personally cover the cost of the fence. The application is pending approval by North Yorkshire Council.
