Opposition leaders, including Labour's Keir Starmer and the Liberal Democrats’ Ed Davey, have criticized Sunak's delay in calling an election, suggesting he's avoiding the public's judgment.

Despite rumors of a spring election, Sunak has left room for flexibility in his plans, referring to his timeline as a "working assumption."

During a visit to a youth center in Mansfield, he emphasized his focus on managing the economy, reducing taxes, and addressing illegal migration. He also hinted at additional tax cuts following recent changes to national insurance.

Acknowledging a challenging past year due to ongoing issues such as Covid, the Ukraine war, and conflict in Gaza, Sunak still promised a brighter future with potential economic relief for families.

Meanwhile, the Labour Party has launched "Project Hope," a vision for revitalizing the nation, with Sir Keir advocating for economic growth prior to any tax cuts. The latest legal date for the next general election is January 28, 2025.
